I began my work by taking pictures for my December sketchbook. I took all my pictures for this project on the snow day that was supposed to be the first day back to school from the Christmas break. All the photos that I manipulated are in the style of the artist Ben Heine, who adds drawings to his photographs. By drawing things that wouldn't exist in real life, I have added a little humor to my pictures. I have chosen to add mythical elements to my photographs, such as ninjas and Disney's Olaf. I was inspired to put two ninja's in the one picture because my sister and her little friend wanted me to take pictures of them pretending to be ninja's. So it seemed like a great idea to put drawn ninja's in with them. Also, for the photograph of the “A”, I used footprints. The inspiration came from trying to take a picture of my name made of footprints, but I had some difficulty getting the entire name; so I chose to just do the first letter of my name and to add some contrast to the snow I drew the prints to be dark. The picture of the snowman face was inspired by a smile I saw in the snow. I thought why not put a carrot and coal in to make a snowman face? When people see my art, I'd like them to smile and laugh when they think it looks funny. Overall, I'd like them to find enjoyment in my work.
